Making Personalized Medicine A Reality
DxTerity Diagnostics is promoting the change to personalized medicine through the development of genomic tools and assays that simplify the diagnosis and treatment of disease. |
Welcome to DxTerity Personalized medicine is the tailoring of treatment to both the specific ailment and an individual’s response. It is about getting the diagnosis/prognosis and treatment of a disease right the first time, thus eliminating the prescribing of ineffective, harmful or unnecessary medications. The key to personalized medicine is the availability of molecular diagnostics that allow physicians to better characterize the genetic make-up of both the patient and the afflicting ailment. In an effort to overcome a significant barrier to the routine implementation of personalized medicine, DxTerity has developed NEAT, Non-Enzymatic Amplification Technology, a proprietary nucleic acid amplification procedure that overcomes many of the limitations of older technologies and paves the way for the development of point-of-care diagnostic tests. NEAT is unique in that it enables the detection of DNA and RNA targets without the use of enzymes, minimizing the need for sample purification and lowering the complexity of the genomic testing process. The reach and ruggedness of this technology is fundamentally suited to clinical testing requirements, as such, NEAT is a critical enabler of point-of-care genetic testing. DxTerity is currently working with corporate and academic partners to develop and validate select applications for NEAT. The key areas of focus are: - One-step, point-of-care identification of bacterial infections
- Cancer prognosis determination via genomic analysis
- MicroRNA analysis in human cells
- Analysis of RNA extracted from archived tissue samples
